Our impact
Our research activities began in April 2023. The new ways of doing things (interventions) and improvements to services will begin making a difference to health and social care rapidly due to the way we work in partnership with health and social care services, as well as the public and communities.
Our research builds on the success of our previous work, which is making a difference to health and social care services.
We’ve put together several case studies that highlight the success of our previous patient safety work across areas of health and social care that are particularly relevant to our current research.
Developing safer health and care systems
Targeting acute kidney injury to improve patient safety
Improving safety and access to care via a co-designed monitoring app
Improving medication safety
Informing the NHS England Primary Care Patient Safety Strategy through our research findings
Implementing a real-time electronic audit and feedback intervention in primary care
Designing and evaluating a mandatory prescribing safety assessment for GPs in training
Risk management: developing a learning resource to support pharmacy teams across England
Preventing suicide and self-harm
Informing best practice and policy change to transform services for people who have self-harmed
Training frontline health and care professionals in suicide risk and prevention
Informing practice and policy to enhance the management of patients following a self-harm episode
Optimising telephone delivery of Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT)
